Transparent information about the browser technologies in use.
Introduction
This Cookie Policy explains the small amount of browser storage used by Casino Niagara Inn and the choices available to visitors. Our site is designed as a static information resource, with no user account, payment checkout or server-based contact submission. We use a 19+ age gate and a privacy-preferences interface to support appropriate visitor choices. The descriptions below refer to the technologies actually included in this version of the website. Features may change if the site is updated in the future.
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small pieces of data that a website or service may ask a browser to store, often to remember preferences or recognise a browser on subsequent visits. They can be essential to a requested service or optional, such as those associated with analytics and advertising. Not every form of browser storage is a cookie. Websites may also use localStorage, sessionStorage and other browser capabilities. Our core interface primarily uses localStorage to remember visitor selections.
How Browser Storage Works
localStorage allows a browser to save small values associated with a particular web origin. These values generally persist beyond the current page visit until replaced or cleared through browser settings. On Casino Niagara Inn, localStorage records whether the visitor has confirmed the minimum age and stores cookie-category selections. The values are handled by JavaScript in the visitor’s browser. We do not send those entries to a dedicated profile server or associate them with a registered account.
Essential Technologies
Essential browser functions allow navigation, accessibility features and the basic page layout to operate. Local age-verification and privacy-selection records support the requested control features across the site. The Essential category cannot be disabled from the preferences dialog because it is used to remember choices and avoid repeated interruptions. Clearing local browser storage resets these selections, so a visitor may see the age confirmation and cookie panel again on a later visit.
Functional Preferences
The Functional category concerns optional third-party content, specifically embedded Google Maps on hotel pages. By default, a map is replaced with a privacy-aware panel that identifies the need for permission. Once Functional consent is granted—or a visitor explicitly activates the map—the page inserts a Google iframe and the browser contacts Google directly. Consent can be changed later in Cookie Settings, and withdrawing it removes embedded maps from the page when preferences are applied.
Analytics Technologies
The site does not currently deploy a dedicated analytics platform, custom traffic measurement cookies or visitor-behaviour tracking scripts. An Analytics category appears in the preference panel to let visitors set a future-facing preference, but switching it on does not activate any tracking code in the present implementation. Hosting providers may still maintain ordinary technical server logs, which are different from a client-side analytics service and depend on the actual hosting configuration. Any analytics deployment should be reflected in a revised policy.
Marketing Technologies
Casino Niagara Inn does not currently install advertising pixels, cross-site retargeting tags, behavioural audience scripts or third-party marketing cookies through its own code. The Marketing switch is available as a stored preference; enabling it has no tracking effect while no marketing service is installed. We do not describe a marketing tool as active when it is not present. If advertising technology is later added, consent controls, relevant vendor details and this policy should be reviewed before deployment.
Age Verification Storage
On first entry, visitors are asked to confirm that they are aged 19 or older. Choosing the affirmative response saves a simple confirmation value in localStorage so the modal does not reopen with each navigation to another page on the same origin. The website does not ask for a birth date or identity document and cannot independently verify a visitor’s age. If a visitor indicates they are under 19, the content remains unavailable until an eligible confirmation is supplied.
Cookie Consent Preferences
The cookie panel offers Accept All, Essential Only and Manage Preferences. A saved selection allows the site to render consistently across its pages. Within the settings dialog, Essential remains active while Functional, Analytics and Marketing can be switched individually. The latter two do not activate any providers in this version. Visitors may reopen the dialog from any page using the Cookie Settings link in the footer and save a revised selection. Changes take effect immediately where applicable.
Third-Party Maps
Google Maps is not loaded as an embedded iframe before Functional permission is granted. After activation, Google may use its own cookies or related technologies according to its terms and privacy notices. Casino Niagara Inn does not control those technologies once a browser communicates with Google. An external directions link is also supplied as a separate option. Clicking that link opens another website, and the destination service’s rules and policies then apply to the visitor.
External Services
The website may request font resources from external providers to present its typography. These resources are distinct from our local age and consent settings and can result in normal technical requests to their hosting services. The site also links to hotel websites and responsible-gambling resources. Opening such links may lead to services that set their own cookies and use different consent processes. Review the policies of those external destinations before sharing information or enabling additional features.
Storage Duration
Age and preference settings remain in localStorage until they are changed, cleared by the browser or removed through user action. The site does not assign an automatic expiry date to those values. Contact-form entries are not saved to localStorage and do not create persistent submission records. Any third-party cookies created after opening an external site or loading an approved embedded map may have their own retention periods, which are governed by the relevant provider.
Changing Your Preferences
You can open Cookie Settings from the Information section in the footer on every page. From there, enable or disable optional categories and save the result, or select Essential Only. Turning off Functional permission removes currently embedded maps and restores the permission panel. Clearing all site data through browser settings also resets the stored decision. If you reopen the site after clearing age information, you may be asked to confirm the minimum age again.
Browser Controls
Most browsers offer tools to inspect, remove or restrict cookies and locally stored data. The exact controls vary by browser, device and version. You may also use private browsing modes or extensions that limit third-party requests, although these can affect fonts, map embeds or some convenience features. Removing essential local data will not prevent you from reading the static pages after you complete the age check again; however, your previously saved preferences will no longer be remembered.
Updates to This Policy
This policy describes the site’s present implementation and may be updated if we adopt additional features or third-party integrations. Any future analytics, marketing or booking functionality would need a corresponding review of the notice and the choices presented to visitors. We avoid listing cookies that are not actually deployed and aim to make material changes understandable. Please refer to the Last Updated information on this page and review the notice if the site changes.
